Udupi, Jul 15: Former district president and current honorary president of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KaRaVe) Santhosh Shetty Panjimar, was arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a lady, owner of a fancy store in Panjimar near Shirva.
The accused is said to have visited the fancy shop of the woman when she was alone and spoke to her in vulgar language and touched her inappropriately. In addition, he asked her to accompany him to a lodge in Udupi. He is also said to have threatened the woman if she does not oblige to his demand.
Santhosh had also allegedly made calls to the mobile of the said lady. The victim sought the cooperation of her husband to catch the culprit red-handed. Accordingly, Santhosh Shetty was called to the fancy shop. He came to the shop eagerly thinking that she will accompany him to the lodge as he desired. However, he was in for a surprise as the lady bashed him in the presence of her husband.
The victim belongs to the Scheduled Caste and the Shirva police have arrested the accused under Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. An inquiry is being conducted at the level of DySP as per the information given by the Kaup circle inspector Halamurthy Rao.
