Bengaluru, Jul 15: In a shocking incident of animal cruelty, four security guards tortured a puppy to death, after it tried taking shelter from rain in an apartment complex in Bengaluru.
The four were booked by the HSR Layout Police, after the residents of Purva Fairmount apartment filed an FIR demanding strict action against them for the heinous act.
The incident had happened on July 1, when a five-month-old pup tried to take shelter in Purva Fairmount apartment due to heavy rains. However, the security guard named Amar caught the pup and along with three other security personnel, put the pup in a gunny bag. The pup was beaten with sticks and hit with stones till it died.
Some residents who witnessed the cruel act complained to the police and the CCTV camera footage was used as proof.
The four are booked under Sections 428 and 429 of the Indian Penal Code (mischief by killing or maiming animal). If the charges are proven in court, it carries a prison sentence of up to two years or a penalty or both. The four guards have also been booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
