There is no proper planning for vendors and hawkers. In the Main veg market, there should be a full floor alloted for vegetabl vendors instead of they messing up the road and disturb the traffic . There should be a food court by street vendors on the terrace of the government buildings provided them wth all the proper provisions like standard carts, water, and electricity for a small fee. Mangaluru smart city require a proper well planned Main market and fish market with poeper multi storey parking.
These vendors have families to support. They can lead a decent liives if we provide proper facilities There is no shame is selling pakodas, Bhajias and Limbu Pani. This will create self employment like KFC and McDonald's.

India is Rich and Indian's are poor. I am sure around 90% of these street venders are from North India and their god fathers/owner are from Mangalore/ South India mainly Govt employees. Even 90% of barbers now a days from UP and our people are lazy and passing wage comments on MCC.
MCC is doing their best to demolish the illegal Non hygienic shop to clean our surroundings .
MCC needs public support and Not wage comments on their activities .

MCC demolition drive is not a solution when nation is facing lack of jobs. I had travelled to the West Asia were in the evening street turn markets with delicious food smelling everywhere catering to the rich and poor alike.
This self employment with small investment is the only bread winner for many families. But making jobless destroying in minutes only runied their famalies.
I would suggest MCC to plan for food street with decent food trucks with hygenic food in every area without disrupting the traffic movment. MCC may take some que from Bangkok and Shangai were in the evening streets are buzzling with activity and the next morning is clean as before.
I would request MCC not make the citizens of 'Jobless' and to find alternate.

When PM says" Pakoda "you make fun of him. If somebody in ME countries does same type of business it is self empowerment? Don't see any logic in your arguments
You oppose MODI just for opposing and not with any valid arguments

    Rathan, Mangalore
Sir, I totally agree with the Prime Minister when he says that selling pakoras is an employment. Even Mahatma Gandhi said that no occupation is lowly. There should be dignity of labour.
But I want to ask the Prime Minister that when a pakora seller, by going beyond his means and skipping meals, somehow gets his son educated... does he expect his son to sell pakoras along with him? But the Prime Minister is suggesting that a pakora seller's son should become a pakora seller only.
I know, the Prime Minister can never understand the pain of a father whose well-educated son is being advised to sell pakoras. But at least BJP President Amitbhai Shah should understand the pain of a father who is educating his son beyond his means
We were promised 2 crore jobs, but unfortunately there are no jobs for youngsters like us and in such a time, PM Modi and BJP President Amit Shah are advising the youth to sell pakoras to earn a living. Instead of giving jobs, they give such advises, which is very shameful.

Only a chaiwala (tea seller) can give such an advice to the unemployed youth in the nation to sell pakode, but an economist will not do that.

Mr.Rathan you can start 'Acche Din Pakoda shop. Please make sure your menu will be selling PhD Pakoda, Engineer Pakoda, MBA Pakoda, LLB Pakoda, ITI Pakoda, B.Com Pakoda and Intermediate Pakoda.
If Pakoda is the future of India, why do we need universities? Do you agree if your son/daughter graduated in medicine to start 'Pakoda' as an alternative for living due to lack of jobs?

This MCC is useless, they will only target poor vendor s. They will not touch any vendor using the footpath to display his merchandise in the central market area. The MCC official s all come in a group this morning I saw the MCC official s at a house demanding land from a senior citizen lady who lives with her daughter for road widening purpose they were about a dozen men not a single lady staff. There should be a lady staff with them. The road widening works in Mangalore is a big failure in some places it is taken about ten months and work not yet completed.

Whatever may the method, it is a good beginning. Let the city get cleaned up. Do this on weekly basis, all will learn a lesson and no one will come back.
Last time, the s shops opposite to SBI bus stand were demolished. Very next week everything came back. Why cant MCC keep a vigil and ensure that nothing comes back.

Central market area roads are wide and I am sure there is car park facility but these street vendors have put up their carts. Solution is available. As population is increasing in Mangalore, make another open market somewhere at the place not so crowded. Transportation in Mangalore is easily accessible. If action isnot taken now our beautiful Mangalore will become like Bangalore. Even on pavements there are street vendors and no police around

Its not swatch bharath just publicity gimick..!. See normally petty shop keepers or street vendors are coming from poor back ground, they manage some funds by borrowing or pledging family's golds to keep/buy those shops, with a hope of good future. But these muncipality goons are sooo lazy that they can not do their duties on time by not allowing them to start business on unauthorised places, they will pops up only after all funds are empty on settling the business. Now where this poor peoples should go !! How many familys might lost their golds!! . Why not MCC stop them in the begining?????

Dear officials of MCC instead of gathering the media and doing this type of drive whenever you feel like and showing off that you have helped the citizens who have complained , why not have a drive every day and clean our Mangalore from these filthy eatery places so that we can say YES we are working towards a smart city.
