Mumbai, Nov 12: Tulunadu culture has made a global impact since it has its own divinity. ‘Kala Jagattu’, cultural troupe, has been striving to popularize the distinct Tulunadu culture of the coastal district in the country and abroad. Rajyotsava award winner Vijay Kumar is indeed an ambassador of Tulunadu and deserves the award for his yeomen service, said Sri Vishveshateerta Swami of Pejavar Math, on Monday November 10.

Swami Vishveshateerta was speaking at the felicitation function for Vijay Kumar held at Bunts’ Association auditorium, Kurla (East). Bunts’ Association president Aikala Harish Shetty presided. Metropolitan police officer Prakash B Bhandary and Yakshagana artiste Ambatanaya Mudrady were the chief guests of the occasion.

Kala Jagattu chief secretary Surendra Kumar Hegde welcomed the gathering.  Ashok Pakkala compered the programme.  ‘Sharashayye’, a Tulu play written by Vijay Kumar was staged as part of the entertainment programme, along with folk dance and other cultural programmes.
