Hassan: Newly-wed ends life accusing husband of sexual harassment

Hassan, Oct 31: A newly married woman committed suicide being sexually harassed by her husband.

The incident has happened in Vijayanagar layout, Hassan. The deceased has been identified as Neha Sharif (19). She was the daughter of Rehman Sharif. She was married to Adil Sharif just four months ago.

According to sources, her husband was a sex maniac and was suspecting Neha since the day of marriage. It is said that he used to show pornographic films to Neha and harass her. Neha who was fed up of the harassment, drank pesticide at home and killed herself. She was rushed to hospital but she had died by then.

Her husband, who came to know that his wife had committed suicide, fled. Parents of Neha have urged for suitable action against Adil Sharif. The body has been sent to Hassan district hospital for post-mortem.

A police complaint has been registered at Pension Mohalla police station.

    Married at the age of NINTEEN?? Was there no single sane person left in the girl’s family that could have prevented this marriage going ahead in the first place?

    Why are some families even in 21st century in such a haste to marry their daughters off? Isn’t education and a chance to seek out an independent economic existence the best gift a parent could give to their daughter?
