Bengaluru, Nov 1: BJP MP, Shobha Karandlaje, conveyed Kannada Rajyotsava wishes to the people of Karnataka today in English! Her action automatically attracted widespread criticism, after which she deleted her tweet.
On the occasion of Karnataka formation day, even Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, tweeted in Kannada to wish the people of Karnataka, duly recollecting its rich contributions and impressive heritage. Shobha re-tweeted Modi's tweet. When extending Rajyotsava wishes to the people however on her own behalf, she used English.
The netizens however were quick to note her English tweet and express their ire at showing her love for English.
Embarrassed, Shobha deleted her tweet. Shobha had said in her tweet that this is a special day on which the people of Karnataka feel proud about their culture and traditions. She also called upon the people to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava by recollecting historic heritage of Karnataka.
In addition to the Prime Minister, chief minister, Kumaraswamy, former chief minister, Siddaramaiah, leaders of several states and national level leaders extended Rajyotsava wishes to Kannadigas through tweets in Kannada language.
