Mangaluru Nov 2: Mandd Sobhann announced the nominees for the first Hyssna Global Cine Awards which will be held on December 9 at Kalaangann in city.

Addressing media here on Friday November 2, Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann, Eric Ozario, said," In order to promote Konkani cinema and to encourage cine artist, Mandd Sobhann is presenting the first Global Konkani Cine Awards for Konkani cinema produced anywhere in the world, in any dialect of Konkani in the year 2016 and 2017,”

"Awards will be given in 9 categories like best movie, best director, best actor (Male), best actor (Female), best supporting actor (Male), best supporting actor (female) and best screenplay/script best music (Songs/Background),” he added. 

"The panel of eminent judges shortlisted 3 top nominees in each of the 8 categories. Dr Richard Castelino, Jeethendra Shikerker (Goa), Rajesh Fernandes (Honnavar), Dr Rajay Pawar (Goa), John M Permannur (Mangaluru), B Charan Kumar and Dolwin Mendonca were among the panel of judges,” said Eric Ozario.

“The winners in each category will be declared at the award ceremony on December 9. The award will consist of title, award and cash prize of Rs 25,000 each,”said Eric Ozario.

The nominees:

Best Movie: Anthu (Producer Karopady Akshay Nayak), Connection (Producer Sylvester Savio Fernandes) and Sophiya (Producer Janet Noronha)

Best Director: Christ Silva (Connection), Harry Fernandes (Sophiya) and Karopady Akshay Nayak (Anthu).

Best Actor (Male): Elton Mascarenhas (Sophiya), Jackie Shroff (Soul Curry) and Sujay Shanubhag (Anthu)

Best Actor (Female): Ester Noronha (Sophiya), Priya Menezes (Ek Aslyar Ek Na) and Seema Biswas (Soul Curry)

Best Supporting actor (Male): Chidanand Kamath (Anthu), Nagendra Shenoy (Anthu) and Ron Rodrigues (Ek Aslyar Ek Na)

Best Supporting actor (Female): Frivita D Souza (Sophiya), Poornima Suresh (Anthu) and Sonam Morajkar (Soul Curry)

Best Script: Harry Fernandes (Sophiya), Karopady Akshay Nayak (Anthu) and Pradeep Barboza (Ek Aslyar Ek Na)

Best Music: Ramith Mahesh (Soul Curry), Vanil Veigas (Ek Aslyar Ek Na) and Christ Silva, Joel Fernandes, Tyron Noronha (Connection)

Mandd Sobhann president Louis Pinto, coordinator Stany Alvares, treasurer Arun Raj Rodrigues and PRO Vithori Karkal were present in the press meet.
