Mumbai: 87th show of ‘Mhataro Chorbela’ Konkani drama staged at Jerimeri

Mumbai, Nov 14: A few Konkani speaking ladies of St Jude’s parish, Jerimeri (Flora, Melonie, Mercin, Precilla, Eliza, Maria Fernandes, Anitha and Maria D’Costa) organised the 87th show of ‘Mhataro Chorbela’, written by Comedy King Francis Fernandes Cascia and directed by Joy Paladka, enacted by Francis Fernandes, Betti Naz, Julie Vaz, Gregory Sequeira Niddodi, Peter Pais, Joy Paladka, Shanti Barboza, Peter Coutinho and two stars from Jerimeri – Lavina and Flora onNovember 4 at St Jude’s Church Ground, Jerimeri.

The programme began with prayer commenced by Melonie Corderio. Precilla Rodrigues cordially welcomed the gathering.

Konkani Gem Austin Prabhu was the chief guest and Konkani poet Valley Quadros and Fr Leonard Noronha were the guests of honour. The organisers felicitated and honoured Austin Prabhu with a shawl, flowers and fruits for his great inspiration and support to thousand of causes in Konkani. They also honoured the writer and director of the drama Francis Fernandes Cassia and Joy Paladka respectively.



Austin Prabhu in his speech introduced several E-magazines like Poinnari.com, Veez Konkani magazine and other Konkani talent competitions to the crowd and urged youngsters and young parents to speak Konkani as their medium of language. While Francis Fernandes in his speech thanked the Konkani crowd for their support and love for completing 87th show of Mhataro Chorbela and also requested their support for his challenge in completing its Century. They also acknowledged and appreciated the women organizers for organizing this show within a short period and managing the programme systematically.

The organisers also honoured the dignitaries on the dais mainly, Fr Leonard Noronha (parish priest), Valley Quadros, Walter D’Souza, Sr Florine, Sr Tejaswini, Suzan Coelho, Lawrence Coelho, Leo Fernandes, Kewin D’Souza and others.

The organisers thanked all its supporters mainly Walter D’Souza, A W D’Souza, Bhuthello Travels, Gilbert Baptist – Malaika, Ambroz Fernandes, Francis Fernandes, Cascia, Francis Rasquinha, Ozzy Corderio, Henry D’Silva, Jean Gomes, Janet D’Souza, Winnifred D’Souza, advocate Pius Vaz, Paul Mascarenhas, Marol, Isidore Rasquinha and others.

John Rod, David, Fedrick, Evjin Bai Marol, Antony Tauro Sakinka and one and all who supported this cause whole heartedly were thanked.

At the end, Flora D’souza appreciated and thanked with a flower bouquet to the compere of the day, Roydon Menezes a talented youth of the parish, who is also a scholar student in all the fields.

Over 500 people were delightfully present for the show in spite of many celebrations in the parish and also in neighbouring parishes.
