Mumbai, Nov 28: The Governor of Maharashtra S C Jamir has said that the sordid episode of terrorism currently unfolding in Mumbai should serve as an eye opener not just for the security agencies – who have the responsibility to protect the territorial integrity of the nation and ensure the safety of citizens -, but also for the citizens of the country.
Mentioning that terrorism is a war by proxy, he has urged the citizens to 'stand up and be counted' in the fight against terror. Complimenting the people of Mumbai for showing courage and resilience under trying situation, Jamir has called for collective efforts to redeem the image of Mumbai as one of the safest cities and financial capital of the country.
In a special message to the people, to be broadcast by AIR at 7.15 pm and Door Darshan (Sahyadri) at 9.20 pm, Governor Jamir said that the apparent motive of the terrorists is to create fear in the minds of the people and disturb the atmosphere of communal harmony in Maharashtra. He has appealed the people to maintain solidarity and send out the message that there is no place for terrorism in India.
