Murray wins Brisbane International first round tie

Brisbane, Jan 2 (IANS): The former World No. 1 Andy Murray claimed a 6-3, 6-4 win over local favourite James Duckworth at the Brisbane International.

Murray, 31, took his surgery early last year and missed three of the four Grand Slam events in 2018, reports Xinhua news agency.

Murray returned to the court last June and played just 12 complete matches last year as his ATP ranking dropped to 240th place and was unseeded in Brisbane.
