Udupi, Jan 5: Udupi district Sri Ram Sena held silent protest here on Saturday, January 5, alleging that two young women were sent by established parties for political gain to Ayyappa temple which has preserved its sanctity for the last 800 years.

“Kerala state government which has destroyed the holy tradition should be dismissed and president’s rule should be implemented. The Supreme Court should be briefed to continue the tradition and an ordinance should be passed,” the protestors demanded.

The silent protest rally was held beside Manipal Country Inn Hotel and later a memorandum was submitted to the Udupi deputy commissioner.

“Ayyappa Swamy temple is a historical religious centre with certain religious customs. Kerala government which uses police force to harass Hindu community members and registers police cases against innocent people should be dismissed. The prevailing customs that existed for generations should be maintained,” they urged.

“Pinarayi government has made the Supreme Court verdict an excuse for the entry of women. Sri Rama Sene severely condemns it. The government may be proud that they won for the time being. They will know the glory of Ayyappa soon. They are attacking Hindu religion. We do not support violence. But anti-Hindu activities should not happen,” said district chief secretary of Sri Ram Sena Anand Shetty.

Sri Rama Sena district president Jayaram Ambekallu, divisional vice president Yashwanth Sharath Poojary, Ambika Nayak, Bharath Guruswamy, Dinesh Pangal and others were present.
