Udupi: Dalit employees should show gratitude for reservation, says Dalit thinker Jayan Malpe

Udupi, Jan 7: Dalit thinker Jayan Malpe called on the Dalit employees to repay the gratitude for the reservation proposed by Ambedkar, which made the Dalit community that was living a life worse than that of a dog to sit along side Brahmins and work in office environment.

Jayan was speaking as the chief orator of the eighth conference of SC/ST and Navaboudda employees' welfare association of LIC Udupi, Chikkamagalur and Mangaluru district divisions that was held at Brahmagiri Lions Bhavan near here on Sunday, January 6.

"Educated dalit employees should not destroy their families. Instead they should uplift the members of the Dalit society who are living in the same conditions as we lived earlier. What the educated Dalit employees have done for the issues that concern the Dalits today? Till where you have dragged the chariot of Ambedkar?" Jayan questioned.

The programme was presided by Somla Naika, president of Udupi zone of SC/ST and Navaboudda employees' welfare association

Suresh Kumar welcomed the gathering. Rama karkala did the introductory speech. Gopal T Naika rendered the vote of thanks. the programme was compered by B D Sadashiv.
