Mangaluru, Jan 10: Hearing into the writ petitions filed against the wards reservation list in the city corporation published by the government concluded in the state high court on Wednesday January 9. Verdict is expected to be delivered soon.

Some corporators and citizens had filed writ in the high court, questioning the rationale behind the reservation list issued by the government. The election commission had requested the high court to complete hearing and pronounce verdict before January 10. Therefore, the high court had undertaken hearing in the case on a fast pace.

If the high court now decides to issue interim stay the election to the city corporation here will get postponed and the corporation will be run by administrative officer. If the reservation list is upheld, election will be announced within a week.

The election commission is meeting at Mysuru today in the backdrop of elections due for several urban bodies in the state including the city corporation here. Additional deputy commissioners of districts where elections are due are participating.
