Mangaluru, Jan 12: A fisherman, identified as Velan (41) from Villupuram, Tamil Nadu , who had left for fishing from the fishing dock in the city, lost his life on Thursday January 10.

Nine fishermen including Velan had left with the fishing boat, 'Rajalaxmi' from the fishing dock here on January 7. After completing the fishing, the boat was returning to the dock. It is said that Velan lost his balance when the boat was about 15 km away from the shore and fell into the sea. Immediately the other fishermen alerted the person who was sterring the boat. He navigated the boat back to the spot where the labourer had fallen. After two other fishermen jumped into the sea and searched for their missing college, they found the body of Velan.

A case of death under suspicious circumstances was lodged in Pandeshwar police station in this connection.

Maravanthe

A fisherman, Shesha Kharvi (45),who was undertaking fishing near the Maravanthe breakwater, fell into the sea and lost his life on Thursday. Shesha Kharvi along with Laxman Kharvi were catching fish together when Shesha Kharvi lost his balance and fell into the sea. He was brought out and taken to the government hospital at Kundapur. But the doctors found him already dead.

A case about this death was registered in Gangolli police station.
