Karkala, Jan 24: “Human religion is superior to religion and faith. Therefore, gathering and praying at a place is a respect to Indian secular principles,” said Kannada Culture and Women and Child Welfare minister and district in-charge minister Dr Jayamala.

She was speaking during her visit to historic Attur St Lawrence Basilica on Thursday, January 24. She expressed the confidence that she will continue as the minister with blessings from St Lawrence and visit the shrine during annual next year too.

She received blessings from Basilica director and chief priest Fr George D’ Souza and offered a long candle for the saint.

Assistant parish priest Fr Jensil Alva, parish pastoral council’s John D’Silva, Santhosh D’Silva, Tahsildar Mohammed Isaq, rural police station inspector Nasir Hussain, Taluk panchayat member Sudhaker Shetty, municipal councilor Shubhada Rao, Rehmath Shaikh, Prathima Rane, block Congress president Sudhaker Kotian, Subhith N R, Mohammed Sharif and others were present.
