Beltangady: Destructive activity - naxal leader produced in court

Beltangady, Jan 26: Relating to an incident in which a Maruti Omni van and a motor bike were torched at Kuthloor near Naravi in the taluk on November 9, 2013, the accused, Shivakumar alias Chenni Ramesh (54) was produced with full police security in the court here on Friday January 25.

Police personnel from Venoor went to Bengaluru and brought him from there to Mangaluru on Thursday January 24. He was produced in the court on Friday.

The above two vehicles were parked in the compound of a house belonging to Ramchandra Bhat near Kuthloor. A case about setting the vehicles on fire was lodged at Venoor police station.

Relating to another case, police personnel of J P Nagar Bengaluru station had arrested naxal leader, Shivakumar alias Chenni Ramesh. During their questioning, they came to know about the involvement of Ramesh in the Kuthloor incident. After the information was passed on to Dakshina Kannada police, the Dakshina Kannada district police named him in the chargesheet after conducting investigation.
