Moodbidri, Jan 26: A tree on the inner road connecting Swarajya maidan here frequented by large number of people near State Bank of India branch accidentally caught fire on Friday.

Municipal council member Suresh Kotian, local people, fire brigade and forest department staff in a joint operation extinguished the fire. There are multistorey buildings, shops and electric cables in the area. Timely action prevented loss of life and property.
