Mangaluru: Bethany lay apostolate members convention held

Mangaluru, Jan 28: Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangaluru province on January 26 held the convention of Bethany Lay Apostolate members at Sacred Hearts High School Hall, Kulshekar.

Being the Republic Day of India, the event was concelebrated by highlighting both the events. The opening prayer was led by Badyar unit; a short video clipping was depicted based on Bethany congregation. The members of Kulshekar unit welcomed the gathering with a dance. Sr Shubha, the coordinator for Pastoral Apostolate of the Province voiced out words of hospitality and made everyone feel homely.

Sr Cicilia Mendonca, the provincial superior of Mangaluru province in her opening address stressed the importance of family and youth.



Fr Boniface Pinto, professor of St Joseph’s inter-diocesan seminary, Jeppu was the resource person of the day. He explained the meaning of family dynamics based on the encyclical of Pope Francis namely, ‘Amoris Laetitia’. He also made the participants reflect on their own families and time was given for interaction. Sr Shubha then summarised a few points, evaluated the action plan and drew up the action plan for the year 2019-2020. Sr Rekha, the superior of Santa Cruz Convent conducted a short quiz on the servant of God, Msgr RFC Mascarenhas, founder of Bethany congregation. Sr Lydia Pinto, the animator of Puttur unit compered the programme and thanked everyone for their presence and service.
