Mangaluru: Annual feast of St Vincent Ferrer Church celebrated with devotion

Mangaluru, Jan 28: The annual parish feast of St Vincent Ferrer Church Valencia was celebrated in an atmosphere of devotion on Sunday, January 27.

Prior to the solemn concelebrated festal mass, Fr James D’Souza, the parish priest distributed ‘Candles of Honour’ to all the members of the Parish Pastoral Council, gurkars and representatives of the wards, presidents of various parish associations, those who had contributed toward the feast and also the sponsors of the annual feast. Anil Lobo, vice president of the Parish Pastoral Council read out the list of names.

Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, Bishop Emeritus, diocese of Mangaluru celebrated the solemn festal mass. And also preached the homily, former vicar general of Mangaluru diocese Msgr Fr Denis Moras Prabhu, Fr James D’Souza, parish priest, Fr Joswin D’Souza assistant parish priest, Fr Arun Lobo Resident Priest and others were present.



Valencia Parishioner MLC Ivan D’Souza was felicitated on being elected as the parliamentary secretary government of Karnataka. Fr Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza extended the festal greetings to the priests and all the parishioners. Parish Priest greeted the parishioners and thanked everyone for their contribution, participation and co-operation.

Vespers celebrated at Valencia Church

Vespers was held at Valencia Church here on January 26, a day prior to the parish feast.

The entire liturgical service was conducted by Fr Naveen Pinto parish priest St Peter Claver church Arva .In his message he said the main aim of the Vespers is to know the word of God. One should realize how important the word of God is, so as to gain strength, peace of mind and follow the right path in life.



Fr James D’Souza parish priest, Fr Joswin D’Souza, assistant parish priest, Fr Arun Lobo and Hundreds of people participated in the spiritual event and prepared themselves spiritually for the annual feast of the church.
