Udupi: Five more monkey carcasses found in Kundapur taluk

Udupi, Jan 30: Reports said that on Tuesday January 29 five more monkeys were found dead in Kundapur taluk. Two among them were found in Kollur, two in Belve and one in Byndoor, as per information provided by the taluk medical officer, Dr Nagabhushan Udupa.

The viscera samples of a monkey found in Kollur were sent to Manipal and Kollur for testing. The monkey found at Byndoor had died due to a fall from a tree, he stated.

In the meantime, a small quantity of monkey vaccine fever administered to people by way of injecting have been received by the district. They have been distributed to forest department staff at Shankarnarayana and anti naxal force staff, said district health and family welfare officer, Dr Rohini.

She said that the stock of the vaccine in the district is limited and first preference is given to forest officials and those living inside the forest region at the time of distribution.
