Mangaluru, Jan 31: Police personnel of the city crime branch on Wednesday January 30 succeeded in arresting Abdul Raheem alias Kandi Raheem (40), resident of Ansari Cross Road at Bunder here. They also recovered from him assets worth Rs 47,750.

The arrested person has been accused of supplying ganja on a large scale to students and young people in the city.

Raheem, it is said, used to fill ganja in small sachets and sell them to students and others near the educational institutions. He faces seven ganja peddling cases in the city (north) police station, a case for obstructing police from discharging their duties and one case each in Panambur, Barke and city (south) stations relating to ganja sale. In addition, he was also in judicial custody for about a year under Goonda Act.

The operation was executed by the city central branch police inspector, Shantaram, police sub-inspectors, Shyam Sundar and Kabbalraj H D and other staff, under the guidance of city police commissioner, T R Suresh, deputy commissioners of police, Hanumantharaya and Uma Prashanth and assistant commissioner of police, M A Upase.
