Kundapur, Feb 3: Mystery behind the recovery of the skeletal remains of a woman inside the dilapidated shed located in the land belonging to an individual near Koravadi Cross on national highway 66 within Kumbhashi gram panchayat limits remains unresolved. Forensic expert from Manipal, Dr Nirmal Kumar, visited the spot on Saturday and undertook investigation.

Korgi Malati Shetty (65), wife of K Bhaskar Shetty, had gone missing at around 1.30 pm on June 24, 2015 from her home at Charukottige, Korgi near Thekkatte. The spot where the skeleton was found is located a couple of kilometres away from this spot. The police have failed to crack this case till now, and efforts of her son even by the use of social media, have not yielded any results. This case has again been registered in the rural police station here under the directions of the state high court.

People are curious to know whether the skeleton found now belonged to Malati Shetty. However, this theory is contradicted by some locals who claim that two years back, a few coolies including a woman were living in this neglected shed for some time. Their identities are not known and some feel that this skeleton could be belonging to the female coolie.

Deputy superintendent of police here, Dinesh Kumar, said that forensic experts from Manipal had examined the spot. He said that probe from all angles has been given momentum and it would not be possible at this stage to say anything conclusively.

During the visit of forensic experts, Dinesh Kumar was accompanied by police circle inspector from here, Manjappa D R, station house officer, Harish R and others.
