Kasargod, Feb 5: DCRB police arrested a person and confiscated ganja weighing 112 kg on February 3. The arrested has been identified as Noufal (29) from Bimanadia.

Police were on regular inspection rounds at Moukad-Kadumani area and upon inspection of an Innova car, they recovered 112 kg of ganja from it.

During interrogation the accused confessed that the ganja had been brought from Andhra Pradesh to Kerala and then to the district.

Senior police officer Dr A Srinivas informed that the police had prior information on the transportation of ganja. Police were on high alert and inspection of all vehicles was being carried out. On Sunday night, the police arrested the accused after finding ganja in the car. The total cost of ganja is estimated to be valued at Rs one crore.

On interrogation Noufal confessed that ganja was brought from Andhra Pradesh to be sold in the city.

Dr A Srinivas informed in a press meet that ganja was brought from east Godhavari region of Andhra Pradesh. He also informed that ganja is being transported into the district for sale. People have been advised to inform the police about ganja mafia.

Another accused succeeded in fleeing, the officer informed. The accused upon interrogation revealed the details of the crime.
