Kaup: Serial accident involving three cars - four injured

Kaup, Feb 18: In a serial accident which occurred near Dandateertha school here on Sunday February 17, four persons were injured.

The injured happen to be Sudhakar Acharya (40) from Paniyoor, who was at the wheel of Maruti car, his wife, Sharada (37) who was seated in the car, and children, Susmitha (15) and Sushanth (10).

The Maruti 800 in question,which was coming to the town from Udupi went out of control of the driver and hit an i10 car moving ahead. The car then jumped over the divider and hit an electric pole located there after which it tumbled on the other side of the divider. At that time, the car hit a Scorpio car coming from the direction of Mangaluru.

A woman seated in the Scorpio, who saw the accident happening, turned panicky and lost her consciousness. She was admitted into a private hospital at Udupi.

As a result of the accident, traffic chaos reigned supreme for sometime on both the sides. Kaup police who reached the spot sometime later, restored a semblance of order to the traffic with the help of locals.

As a result of the snapping of the electric pole, power supply also was affected. A case relating to the accident was registered in the police station here.
