Bantwal, Feb 22: “A special festival of differently abled children will be held in Kala Mandira, B C Road on February 23,” said coordination officer of resource centre here, Radhakrishna Bhat.

Speaking to news reporters in BC Road press club on Thursday evening, he said that elected representatives, district level education officers, Taluk level officers of different departments and representatives of self-help groups will participate as guests of honour.

“Differently abled Yashaswini, winner of international honours in chess will chair the programme. Seven differently abled children will be felicitated and collection of poems from two others will be released on the occasion. There will be 27 stalls. As many as 800 to 900 people are expected to gather.

“Out of 500 differently abled identified by the government, 87 are looked after at home and 37 are affected by endosulfan.

“Stalls with various delicacies, unique inauguration, honour to children with special achievements, clay modelling, crafts, drawings, discussions with achievers and magic show will be held,” he said.

Education resource center person Narayana Gowda, education officer Nonayya, BRC’s nodal officer Surekha Yalavara were present.
