Bantwal, Feb 22: In a tragic incident which happened at Kinnimelu near Kakyapadavu in the taluk, an auto rickshaw driver, identified as Prashanth, died after his three-wheeler got overturned and landed on his body.
The incident happened near a temple in the said village on the night of Thursday, February 21 when no one was around. As it happened during the night, reason for the accident could not be ascertained immediately. Some local women found that Prashanth's auto rickshaw had landed on his chest, and he was lying motionless.
The people of the village immediately made arrangements to take the driver to a private hospital at Thumbe but Prashanth had died by then. The auto rickshaw did not have any passengers when the incident happened, it is said.
