Bengaluru, Feb 24: World’s largest open-air painting display exhibition, presented by Breathe Entertainment and Powered by Silicon City Academy was inaugurated on Saturday, February 23 at Vega City Mall, Bannerghatta Road.

The event was inaugurated by Peter Machado, archbishop, Bengaluru in the presence of Veena Raju, director, Vega City Mall, Ravi, director, Silicon City Academy and celebrity guests like Actress Nishvika.

Archbishop Peter Machado speaking on the event said, “The art of painting is a divine gift that surpasses even our knowledge and wisdom. Painting expresses our inmost feelings and emotions. I appreciate the efforts of Kishore who has encouraged a whole lot of budding artists. With the proceeds he wishes to support the inmates of an old age home, which is very laudable.”

Spread over two days, on display was over 10,000 paintings, drawn by amateurs and professionals, by men, women and children, from 5-year-olds to 90-year-olds. Many came with a social message for social good, including some award-winning paintings.

The 10,000 paintings on display at Vega City Mall Bannerghatta Main Rd, Bengaluru, also comprised of on-the-spot paintings drawn by the participants previously at the latest Colorothon-11 event held in Kittur Rani Chennamma Stadium Jayanagar a few weeks ago.

Each painting is being sold at 100Rs, and people purchased the paintings in large numbers. The sale proceeds will be donated to Om Ashram Trust, an old-age home.

The two-day exhibition also included entertainment on the side, with performances by India's Got Talent artists, Drums Circle, musical bands and more.

After eleven successful editions of Colorothon held across several cities in the country, Kishore Joseph of Breathe Entertainment, said similar painting exhibitions on such a large scale would be held shortly in other cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi and Lucknow.

“This is a unique concept and we are today auctioning the paintings that were collected during various seasons of Colorothon. These are paintings that were drawn by people from all walks of life who came together. We consider this as their contribution towards supporting our partner, Omashram trust,” added Joseph.

“It’s a unique platform which brings together people with no caste, creed and religion under a single platform to appreciate art. This is what we aim to stress and propagate through children,” said Dr K S Sameera Simha, academic chairman, Silicon City Academy.

“We are very happy to associate with Breathe Entertainment to support this cause. When we learnt about the initiative, we happily obliged to host it at our venue. We look forward to bring out more such initiatives that benefit the society” said Veena Raju, director, Vega City Mall.

The exhibition and auction will be open till February 24 from 9am to 8pm at Vega City Mall in Banneghatta Road.
