Karkala, Feb 26: The deputy commissioner of Shivamogga district has already ordered closure of Agumbe ghat stretch of the road for traffic during the entire month of March for conducting repairs for damaged stretches of the road. The students are worried over their prospects during the period the vehicles goes off this road.

A number of students from Agumbe and nearby areas study in SSLC and PU classes in private schools, government schools and colleges at Hebri. PU examination is set to begin on March 1. Although the distance between Hebri and Agumbe is 20 km, covering this distance through alternative roads is very difficult.

The locals want the government to arrange for buses at least till the examinations of the students come to an end. The parents of students too are angry at the fact that the department, which remained inactive since July when the ghat roads were damaged, has planned to take repairs at a crucial period.
