Chikkaballapur: Congress MLA warns party against giving up constituency to JD(S)

Chikkaballapur, Mar 7: Congress MLA representing the local assembly constituency, Dr K Sudhakar, who is known to be a bitter critic of chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, warned the party that he and his followers would be forced to go against the Congress leadership if this Lok Sabha constituency is earmarked for JD(S) in the coming election. He reminded the party leaders that this constituency is a fortress of Congress party and that JD(S) candidate, H D Kumaraswamy, who fought from here, was placed a distant third.

Speaking after laying foundation stone for Ambedkar residential hostel at Hanumanthapura in Jadabandahalli gram panchayat on Wednesday March 6, Sudhakar said that out of eight assembly constituencies in this Lok Sabha constituency, five have Congress legislators. In the remaining three constituencies where Congress was defeated, it was placed a close second. Therefore, he insisted that the party should retain this seat.

At one stage, Sudhakar said that former chief minister, Kumaraswamy, had slipped to third spot in the previous Lok Sabha election, but later said it was by slip of tongue that he termed Kumaraswamy as former chief minister. Noting that former chief minister, Veerappa Moily, had won from here when pro-Modi wave was sweeping the state, he insisted that Congress should again field Moily as its Lok Sabha candidate.

Sudhakar said that party leaders, Siddaramaiah and Rahul Gandhi, had offered him the post of the chairman of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board. He confessed that he had not heard about the board in the past. He accused Kumaraswamy of showing his meanness by depriving him of the opportunity of heading this board. At the same time, he said he does not need such silly posts.
