Cancellation of contract to catch snakes, cats if exorbitant cost is proved: BBMP commissioner

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (EP)

Bengaluru, March 8: “If exorbitant cost to catch snakes and cats in the city is proved, the contract to catch them will be cancelled and new tender will be called,” said BBMP commissioner Manjunath Prasad.

“There are allegations that unnecessary huge amount is being incurred to catch snakes and cats near Rajbhavan and other places in the city. The forest department and the department of animal husbandry look after the processes. The files do not come till the commissioner,” he said.

“As the menace of cats has increased in Rajbhavan, the action is conducted on the basis of orders from the governor. It is a continuous process. Expenditure beyond need will be investigated. The work should be done only through tender,” he said.
