Mangaluru Mar 19: The rider died on spot after a bus hit his bike at Gurpur on Tuesday, March 19.

Mahesh Lamani (32) from Belvai is the person deceased.

The accident took place near a co-operative bank at Gurpur. The bus ‘Vishal’ was on the way to Mangaluru from Karkala and it hit the two-wheeler which was coming from Belvai towards Mangaluru. It hit a pickup before knocking down the two-wheeler from behind.

The bus was moving at high speed, said some witnesses. The bike rider died on the spot.

    Filing a case against the driver is not the permanent solution for reckless driving. He will come out after some days and continue to do the same. There should be some systematic solution for this problem. Speed cameras must be installed in secret locations on the roads. If anyone is caught for overspeeding, their driving license must be blocked for a month or so. Also their vehicle must be confiscated.

    As Bhavan from Moodbidri clearly mentioned , it looks this recklessness is regular by this bus and the driver. So, a strong case to be filed now, appending other cases like filed by Bhavan and this evil creature bus driver need to be taught a lesson. Also he need to support the parents / family of Mahesh henceforth. A part of his asset ( what ever he has ) and his future income, partially should go to Mahesh's family ... for the evil act he has done. Then only he will realize. but unfortunately nothing will happen. this evil will be given bail and will be in the same bus , driving same recklessness next day and we will just be the spectators.

    RIP brother......please mainly bus drivers please drive slowly...becouse i m d one of them who saw todays moring incident.....his driving scared me and within one second bike driver lost his entire life.....please drive in your limit😣

    On this same Vishal bus KA20D4465, I filed a complaint last week in bajpe police station for overspending , negligence driving and hitting my car. I could have died. I stopped this bus and questioned the driver. In return I got beaten up by some unknown passenger and others just supported him!!. Even this negligence drivers are supported by DK's so called educated citizens.

    RIP brother. How can authorities grant driving license to such reckless driving ? A village road is far better than this Gurpur road which is so narrow & driving here at overspeed will surely result in accident inspite of 3-4 speed breakers installed.Poor driving discipline.

    Very sad and condolences to the bereaved family. The accident caused because of the racing and this is caused by the private buses. The private bus mafia should be abolished in the twin districts of DK and Udupi and the people will be happy with the change.

    Don't expect the ANY Government to put and end to the Private Bus system in SK / Mangalore. It's a big Mafia, majority of bus owners in our district are Politicians / their cronies and it's a conduit for circulating black money / I'll gotten wealth. Burecrats are either helpless or get a percentage.

    Several times it's been highlighted in the media, the poor condition of the bus's, the arrogant / rude attitude of the crew, rash and NEGLIGENT driving, etc.nothingnhas happened, police and RTO are on the payroll of these owner's, the best solution would be to get hold of the errant bus driver who has caused the accident / death and thrash the driver mercilessly, to an extent that he will never ever be able to drive a vehicle again..

    I have found the few KSRTC buses plying in Mangalore, in good condition, courteous crew who issue tickets, help the aged and differently abled.. so high time the concerned public put pressure on the power's to get this done.

    It's high time the authorities , public and the passengers travelling in the bus, wake up to such rash and negligent drivers. The passengers sit mum on the 'roller coaster' ride, till such time an event like this happens. Need regulatory to intervene before many more lives are injured or lost !!!!

    If Government is going to cancel Private Bus then it will be a 8th wonder of the world. Nobody should think that in dreams also. Our Beautiful city is spoiled and many young stars died because of these Private bus.

    And make sure namma oorudhakul become jobless and all crew is recruited from Ghatta ? KSRTC buses don't meet with accidents ? Just see how many accidents they are responsible for in Subramanya Dharmasthala sector.
