Udupi: DC imposes liquor ban from April 16 for peaceful LS polls

Udupi, Apr 4: To ensure the Lok Sabha polling in the constituency is conducted in a peaceful manner, Udupi deputy commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati has ordered liquor ban in the district.

The ban will be enforced 48 hours prior the polling process that is from 6 pm on April 16 up to midnight on April 18.

The Election Commission has announced the election schedule and the polling in Udupi district will be held on April 18.

The notification by the DC directs closure of all types of liquor stores, liquor sale depots, liquor manufacturing distilleries, star hotels and petty shops that sell liquor throughout the district during the ban.

Liquor ban in Byndoor and Kundapur from April 21

As polling will be held in Byndoor on April 23, Udupi DC has ordered liquor ban in Byndoor and Kundapur taluks from 6pm on April 21st till midnight of April 23rd.

She hopes the ban will facilitate a peaceful polling atmosphere.
