Udupi, Apr 7: “CM Kumaraswamy for the first time gave a clear nod to establish Christian development council in the current budget. Crores of money is spent to establish this Christian development council. In upcoming days in every state department will be opened of the corporation and Christian officials will be appointed,” said Ivan D’Souza, Vidhana Parishad member.
Speaking to the Christian leaders on Saturday, April 6 he said, “By the creation of Christian development council many of our problems will be solved. We are planning to organise a pilgrimage tour to Israel in the model of Hajj tour. The discussions are going on between Israel government and our government. Israel government has also agreed to send special flights for the tour. Christian officials will be appointed for the posts in Christian development council.”
“I will personally solve all the problems of Christian people. Please try to arrange an office for me in Udupi. So that I will be able to connect with you personally. I will keep aside one certain day for my community,” he said.
Ivan D’souza also received suggestions and grievances of Christian leaders. He said “Loan amount for self help groups will be increased. And also availing of the loan facility will be eased. Christians should show interest in availing Shaadi Bhagya and other governmental schemes to the fullest. Muslim community is making use of all of these schemes. Minority educational institutions will be soon getting minority provisions. In Christian Development Council, a member from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district has been included. Immediate after the election this council will start functioning,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion Pramod Madhwaraj, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru coalition candidate said, “Probably God wanted me to contest Lok Sabha elections hence I was defeated me in the MP election. I am contesting for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency under the JD(S) sign and voters will surely bless me. Christian community is always with me and I request all of you to vote for this MP election also. Though it is Holy Week a little sacrifice has to be done. Ensure that 100% polling is done n your area. In my tenure as a MLA I have ensured that peace prevailed in Udupi. Many have lost lives in Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannda due to communal violence but nothing happened in Udupi. Peace promotes development. I will take care of all the problems of Christian community personally,” he said.
