Mangaluru, Apr 8: Alcohol measuring 84,181 litres worth Rs 93,92,437 has been seized by the Election Commission as it amounted to the violation of Model Code of Conduct. Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil informed that 461 cases have been booked for excise violation.

Addressing media here on Monday, April 8, Senthil said, "Three two wheelers, three lorries, 1907 phamplets, three cars, one truck, one tanker have been seized and three expenditure related FIRs have been booked. Of the 11,631 weapons, 11,545 have been deposited in police station. Exemptions have been given to 86 weapons for bank security purpose."

"Under cVigil app we have received 32 complaints in which 8 have been dropped and others have been attended. But none are major complaints. We have received 2,598 calls in the toll free number 1950, in which 2,595 have been attended and three are pending," said Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil.

"During the last election, voter slip was a valid identity for voting, but this time this option is not available. Anymore voter slip will not be valid identity for voting along with Ration card. Epic card is a must for the voters other than this voter id he/she can present documents like passport, driving licence, Aadhaar card, pan card, MNREGA job card," said Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil.

Demonstration of EVM and VVPAT was conducted after the press meet.
