Mangaluru: Apolinaris’ Konkani albums ‘Tujea Vinnyak’ and ‘Mai Gaavan’ released

Mangaluru, Apr 9: ‘Tujea Vinnyak’ and ‘Mai Gaavan’, devotional albums produced by Apolinaris D’Souza, renowned composer-lyricist, was released at St Antony Ashram Hall on Sunday, April 7.

Msgr Maxim Noronha, vicar general, Mangaluru diocese, Fr Onil D'Souza, director, St Antony Ashram, Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, parish priest, Bondel Church, Meena Rebimbus, and Melwyn Peris graced the releasing ceremony as chief guests.



Releasing the album ‘Tujea Vinnyak’, Melwyn Peris said, “Apolinaris is one of the pioneers of some evergreen hymns in Konkani. The lyrics and tunes penned by him still live in hearts and minds of people. Even after settling in Muscat, he was engaged in music and composed many hymns and songs. ‘Tujea Vinnyak’ is the collection of hymns which he wrote on various occasions. I hope people will accept this project with great joy as Apolinaris has the capacity to win the hearts and minds of people with beautiful tunes and lyrics. I congratulate Apolinaris and wish him the best for his future endeavors.”

In his congratulatory speech, Msgr Maxim Noronha said, “Apolinaris is the product of Fr Walter Albuquerque popularly known as 'Dhovi Kogul'. Many musicians, contemporaries of Apolinaris, were influenced by Fr Walter. He was the inspiration for them. Many were trained and guided by him. We can see rich lyrics in the hymns composed by Apolinaris. Many of we do not know that he is the composer of majority of Konkani hymns which are very popular in Konkani. We are lucky that Apolinaris has once again come with a bunch of hymns. I congratulate him and his team for the new album."

Meena Rebimbus released album ‘Mai Gaavan’. She recalled some memories of 70's when Apolinaris penned some great hits.

Ivan Sequeira, Prem Lobo and members of Saregama Trust were present.

‘Tujea Vinnyak’ contains 25 hymns which can be sung at various religious events and celebrations. The album also includes 10 golden hits of 70s. Apolinaris has himself penned the hymns and composed the tunes. The project is dedicated to aid ‘Saregama Trust’, Mangaluru.

The hymns in ‘Tujea Vinnyak’ are sung by Konkani world’s new generation and sensational singers. The 8 young singers who all are the product of Daijiworld 24x7 TV’s reality show ‘Mozho Talho Gaitalo’ (MTG) have rendered voice for this album.

Velita Lobo and Gavin Menezes the winner and runner-up of the MTG title have sung two hymns each in ‘Tujea Vinnyak’ while the finalists Jason Lobo, Ashwija Mendonca, Samson Coelho and Ashlita Rodrigues have rendered their voice for a hymn each in this album. Royston D'Souza, Elton Pinto, Deepak Pinto, Lavita Rodrigues who were also the part of the MTG rendered their melodious voice for number of hymns of ‘Tujea Vinnyak’. Apart from MTG, singers Dolwin Kolalgiri, Master Ethan Pinto, Raina, Sheryl and Apolinaris himself have sung hymns for this album.

Sandalwood music director Dolwin Kolalgiri has arranged the music for ‘Tujea Vinnyak’. Alwyn Noronha Bajpe, one of the prominent judges of MTG and well known vocal trainer assisted team ‘Tujea Vinnyak’ in maintaining harmony. Ruben Machado, Kenny Pereira, Joswin D’Cunha played live musical instruments for this album.

‘Tujea Vinnyak’, is completely recorded and mixed at Daijiworld Audio Visual Pvt Ltd, famed as a professional and reliable recording studio of coastal Karnataka.

One of the best sound engineers of the region Srikanth Srinivas, Ashith Pinto and Sandesh Babanna have recorded the entire project with high proficiency and advanced technology. The album was mixed and mastered by Srikanth Srinivas.
‘Mai Gaavan’ also contains 26 songs which are written by Apolinaris. Roshan D’Souza, Angelore has arranged music for this album and well known singers of Konkani world have rendered their voice for this album.
