Udupi: Officials warn of action against vehicles promoting political parties

Udupi, Apr 9: Deputy commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapaty has warned of stern action against private or commercial vehicles with advertisements from political parties or slogans in front, rear or on the windshields of vehicles.

“Such advertisements that have adverse effect on elections, amount to violation of high court order and motor vehicles act. Such vehicles found during elections will be confiscated without notice and legal action will be taken against them,” stated the regional transport officials in their news release.

Fisheries department workers to get holiday on election days

As Lok Sabha elections will be held in the district on April 18 and April 23, the deputy director of fisheries has asked to grant leave to workers on fisheries boats and make sure that deep sea fishing mechanized boats reach back in order for the workers to take part in voting.
