Ahead of LS polls – Gujarat OBC leader Alpesh Thakor quits Congress, likely to join BJP

Daijiworld Media Network

Ahmadabad, Apr 10: Gujarat's OBC leader Alpesh Thakor has quit Congress. His close aide Dhavalsinh Zala has confirmed this development.

"Thakor Sena committee passed a resolution and askedthree Congress MLAs namely Alpeshji, me and Bharatji Thakor to leave Congress to protest against the ignorance of Thakor community by the party. So far, we do not have plan to join any party." Zala said.

The development comes a day ahead of the first phase of the general elections.

Only a month ago, refuting the speculations that he would be joining the BJP party, the OBC leader had said he would continue to fight for the rights of the Thakor community and would stay with Congress.

Alpesh had also indicated that he would not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “I will stay with Congress and will continue to support this party. I want respect and rights for my people,” he had said in March.

As per some media reports Alpesh Thakor is likely to join BJP soon. But this is not confirmed. More details are awaited.

He is not from Tukde Tukde gang. Don't confuse Alpesh Thakur for Jigesh Mewani or Kanhaiya Kumar or Umar Kaleid or Sheela Rasheed.
