Udupi, Apr 11: “As micro observers assigned for Lok Sabha elections have to report directly to the election commission, they should realise their responsibility and act accordingly,” said general observer Krishna Kunal.

Speaking in training programme held for micro observers in DC’s office auditorium here on Wednesday, he said that they should know entire election functions of election staff, AVM and VVPAT.

“They should be at the polling booth on the previous day of elections, work according to election commission guidelines during unpleasant incidents and malfunctions of voting machine. Unauthorized people should not be allowed in the booth, more polling agents than permitted should not be allowed,” he said.

“Do not consider photo voter slip as the document. Consider one of eleven documents permitted by election commission. Micro observers should inspect macpol at 6 am on the day of polling and delete it,’ he said.

He asked to inform over Whatsapp of violations at 12 pm, 3 pm and after the elections.

He asked micro observers not to leave Udupi as they may be required till April 19. Additional deputy commissioner Vidyakumari gave details of the duties and responsibilities of micro observers. DC and district election officer Hephsiba Rani Korlapati was present. A demonstration of AVM and VVPAT was shown for the micro observers.
