Kalaburagi, Apr 11: A crowd formed by members of Banjara community threw stones at a car in which state minister for skill development and muzrai, P T Parameshwar Naik, was travelling, on Wednesday April 10. The crowd wanted to obstruct the minister from undertaking election campaign in favour of Congress candidate, Mallikarjun Kharge.

The minister was shuffling between various Tandas in the district with a view to convince them to cast their votes to seasoned politician and sitting Congress MP, Mallikarjun Kharge. His car was going to Nalawara Tanda when a crowd led by former zilla panchayat member, Valmiki Rathod, intercepted his car and rained stones on it, it is said.

The protesters said that Parameshwar Naik should have supported the candidature of Umesh Jadhav, BJP candidate for the Lok Sabha election, as he belongs to Banjara community. They expressed anger at the fact that the minister was supporting the Congress candidate.
