Kasargod, Apr 11: Shaibu Nihar (39), resident of Vandoor near Nilamboor was arrested on arrival at Karipur airport, Kozhikode, from Qatar. He was taken into custody by the officials of Kochi unit of National Investigation Agency for his suspected links with terrorist organisation, ISIS.

During his questioning, Hamza U K, who was arrested in the past for suspected ISIS links, had revealed to the police that Shaibu had helped him in arranging to send some of his colleagues to Syria via Bahrain in 2016 to enable them to join their final destination, ISIS. On the basis of this statement, a case was registered in Vandoor police station against Shaibu Nihar. On this basis, National Investigation Agency, which handles terrorism-related cases, too had booked him. It also had issued look out notice for Shaibu.

The agency learnt that Shaibu when employed at Bahrain, used to send his colleagues to Al Ansar Salafi Centre which used to conduct classes where Jehadi principles were preached. It also gathered that Shaibu had sent several people to the ISIS centre in Syria via Bahrain.

Shaibu was on his way to visit his native place in Kerala when a National Investigation Agency team that was waiting for him took him into custody and produced him in court.
