Mangaluru, Apr 11: District in-charge minister U T Khader on Thursday, April 11 said that Congress follows Hindutva taught by Swami Vivekananda and Narayana Guru, while BJP does not do so.

Addressing media at Congress election office, he said, “Congress follows 'real' Hindutva taught by Swami Vivekananda and Narayana Guru which is accepted by all. There is nothing wrong if a Congress candidate chants a prayer before seeking votes or starting election campaign. He has all rights to believe in any religion he likes. Hanuman Chalisa is a prayer an individual can chant anywhere and anytime. In Muslim religion also, there are some prayers believers can chant any time. So if Mithun Rai chants Hanuman Chalisa or Islamic prayer, we cannot ask him not to do so. Because in one way, he is following his religion and another way he is spreading a message of harmony.

“BJP never believes in Hindutva. Their Hindutva entirely different from Swami Vivekananda’s Hindutva. They are completely against the speech of Swami Vivekananda delivered in Chicago. People now have realised it and started to find real Hinduism in Congress. The increasing support to the party is the best example for it,” he said.

Speaking about BJP’s election manifesto he said, “BJP’s election manifesto is cut and paste of 2014’s promises. It clearly shows that they failed to fulfill the promises made by them to people five years ago. In every section of governance, they faced huge failure and they never thought about people and the nation. They only brought to reality the projects of UPA government like Aadhar, GST and FDI. Another interesting thing to note is that when they are were in opposition, they opposed these projects blindly.

“The reason given in the Supreme Court about missing documents of Rafale deal is the biggest achievement of Narendra Modi and his government. Giving such a reason Modi embarrassed India in front of the world.

“Local leaders are seeking votes in the name of Narendra Modi. But voters should remember that Modi’s name will not appear in the voting machine. If roads are to be repaired, only the local MP can make it possible. So I request to voters’ to cast their vote after monitoring the capacity of the candidate,” he said.

Harish Kumar, president, district Congress committee, Abhayachandra Jain, former MLA Moodbidri, Ibrahim Kodijal, and Tharanath Kallige were present.
