Udupi, Apr 11: Communist Party of India (Marxist) district secretary Balakrishna Shetty has appealed people to not vote for BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Addressing a press meet at Udupi press club here on Thursday, April 11, he said BJP has failed to fulfill promises and is working against the interest of the people.

“BJP is weaving a web of lies about its achievements. Farmers have failed to get justice. They have not got the fruits of their labour. As many as 1000 employees have lost their jobs. CPI party will support pro-active, secular party candidates. Our fight is against BJP. Now the BJP leaders are all set to change the constitution. They will not protect the nation,” he blamed.

Shetty further said, “Liberalization policy is leading to privatisation. This is the reason that every sector is becoming privatized.”

K Shankar, member of State CPI(M) said, “The government of India is not ready to waive farmers’ debts. Amit Shah is dangerous to this nation. He has many cases registered against him.”

CPI(M) is campaigning against BJP alliance in Byndoor, Siddhapur, Kundapur and other places. It is conducting political conventions in Labour organizations, he said.

“There is a need to strengthen the left parties. The Vijaya Bank merger with Bank of Baroda, the Union government not giving permit of 4G connection for BSNL and not paying salary to its employees are issues we should remember. If BJP comes to power, it might be destroy the democracy. Therefore we need to defeat them,” he stressed.

Suresh Kallagara, district secretary CPI(M) and Venkatesh Koni, were present.
