Puttur: Mortal remains of man found among bushes at Uppinangady

Puttur, Apr 25: The lifeless body of a middle-aged person was found from among the bushes near the bridge across River Netravati at Uppinangady in the taluk on Wednesday April 24.

Sometime later, the identity of the mortal remains was identified as that of Ramesh Gowda (44), son of Kantappa Gowda from Hallingeri in Kokkada, Beltnagady. The identity was established with the help of Adhar card found near the body. Ramesh had gone missing from his home during mid-March this year. A complaint had also been filed in Dharmasthala police station about this fact.

Someone observed on Wednesday that unbearable stench was spreading from near the Netravati bridge at Uppinangady. A detailed search revealed that it was coming from the decomposed body of a man. Uppinangady police was informed about it by Uppinangady gram panchayat development officer. After the police came land conducted check, they found the Adhar card after which the family members of the deceased were summoned and his identity was confirmed.

Ramesh Gowda was a liquor addict, and he would have fallen inside the bushes and died there, it is suspected. The police said that the body seemed to have dried up because of heat. The mortal remains have been sent for postmortem to find out the actual reason for his death. A case about the incident was filed in Uppinangady police station.
