Mangaluru: 13,290 students from district to appear for CET

Mangaluru, Apr 26: Common Entrance Test (CET), which decides the future course of the students, is being held in the state on April 29 and 30. 13,290 students from Dakshina Kannada district would be appearing for this test. A preliminary meeting presided over by additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of the district, R Venkatachalpathy, was held here on Thursday April 25 to discuss ways and means to ensure that the test is conducted smoothly.

The ADC, addressing the meeting in which tahsildars and principals of 26 colleges where the tests are being held were present, said that all precautions and measures have been taken to ensure that no problems arise for the smooth conduct of the test. He asked the heads of the educational institutions to successfully discharge their responsobilities this year too based on the experience of previous years. He noted that the test was held smoothly in all colleges last year except Besant.

He instructed the managements of educational institutions to provide basic facilities to students and provide a wall clock in rooms where the test is proposed to be held without fail. He pledged district administration's support for the smooth conduct of the test and asked the institutions to made doubly sure that all arrangements for the students to appear for the test have been completed. He told them to follow the guidelines and directions given by Karnataka Examinations Authority and always to keep the convenience of students in mind.

Deputy director of PU education, Vasudeva Kamath, informed that 13 CET centres are located in Mangaluru taluk, eight in Moodbidri, two in Beltangady, and three in Puttur.
