Mangaluru, Apr 27: “Use of yeast helps flour multiply two or three times. Similarly camps such as these help to enlighten hidden talents among us, but we should have the will to open up to something new and make the most of the available opportunity. I received encouragement for my public speaking skill as I too took part in a camp like this. Mandd Sobhan has contributed immensely for the survival of Konkani by organizing camps such as these,” said singer and master of ceremonies, Hera Pinto.

She addressed a gathering after inaugurating a children’s ‘Khamir’ vacation camp after mixing yeast with flour held in Kalangan, Shaktinagar on April 27. Trainers in different divisions, Rahul Pinto, Veloni Goveas, Shravan Baliga, Jason, Diol Ashel D’Silva and Victor Mathias were honored.

Children will obtain training in selected solo singing, dance and dramas. All will be provided training in Konkani. A performance of the camp participants will be shown in the monthly platform on May 5.

Mandd Sobhan has been organizing these camps since 2002. Camps are held in Chikkamagaluru and Mumbai also.

Gurkar Eric Ozario, president Luvi Pinto and secretary Kishore Fernandes were present. Vice president Irene Rebello compered the meeting and thanked the gathering.
