Mangaluru, Apr 29: On January 31 Sister Maria Shamita was elected as Provincial Superior of the Apostolic Carmel, Karnataka Province in place of Sister Carmel Rita.
Sister Carmel Rita handed over charge to the new elect at the end of the eucharist in a short ceremony.
Around 250 sisters of the province were present at the eucharistic celebration offered by Fr Derek D’Souza ofm (Cap).
The provincial team comprised of Sisters Maria Kripa, Maria Melissa, Maria Shubha, Julie Ann and Sister Linet D’Souza.
The day was also an occasion for the province get-together and to felicitate the diamond, golden, ruby and silver jubilarians.
