Kundapur, May 8: The secretary of Airabail Milk Producers Cooperative Milk Producers Society committed suicide by into the irrigation canal of Varahi River near the society office. The victim was Chandrashekhar Manja (57) from Airabail Kwadagi, who also functioned as priest of Lord Siddeshwara temple at Siddapur.
Manja is survived by wife, a son, and two daughters. He worked till late night in the milk society on Monday. It is guessed that he thereafter went near the canal in his motor bike before tossing his cellphone away and jumping into the canal. His family members who went searching for him on Tuesday morning found his two-wheeler and other belongings near the canal. After thorough search, his mortal remains were recovered.
Ill health appears to be the most plausible reason behind this suicide.
