Kundapur: 'Shed egotism, acquire ability to affect changes' - Dr Veerendra Heggade

Kundapur, May 8: "Change brought about by an individual with his efforts has the potential to transform the whole world. Change becomes a possibility when a person is able to get rid of the sense of egotism. Three is a need to make changes in the system of education and imparting of knowledge. The duty of discharging the debt of the society through society-centric thought processes has to be taken up. Like Lord Shreehari who acquired the form fingerling that acquired a huge size later, I have observed that this region, during the last three decades,has undergone change on a large scale," said Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade.

He delivered the benedictory address after inaugurating the religious meeting convened as part of the programme to dedicate the newly built rock temple of Goddess Padmavathi Amma and family deities at Navunda Bobbaryahithlu here to the world.



Dr Heggade noted that in the past, lighthouses were built on the seashore to guide boats which move about in the sea at night. Noting that the new temple is located on the seashore, he wished that it will be able to provide proper guidance to those who get misled in a web of confusion and to provide inspiration to the people to turn their lives into a journey of achievements.

Sri Mohanadasa Paramahamsa Swamiji of Manila Sridhama, in his address, said that building of temples is not the end of it and it is equally important to continue to observe puja, customs and other restrictions as ordained by ancient scriptures. He said that the presence of divine power in a temple gets fortified when religious procedures are performed correctly and wished that temples like this will help the country to become stronger as a supreme nation.

Byndoor MLA, B M Sukumar Shetty, presided over the programme. Managing trustee of Basrur Lord Mahalingeshwara temple, B Appanna Hegde, leader of the opposition in state legislative council, Kota Srinivas Poojary, social worker and writer, Ramachandra Baikampady, Leeladhar Bykampady, a social worker from Bahrain, former MLA, K Gopal Poojary, Haji Anduka Saheb, astrologer, C P Gopalakrishna Panikkar Payyannur, Navunda Juimma Masjid priest, Iqtiar Kamil, Maravanthe Badakere Agricultural Service Cooperative Society president, Raju Poojary, honorary president of temple renovation committee, Krishna M Kunder, president of Fishermen Service Committee Maravanthe, Mohan Kharvi, Karnataka Kharvi alias Harikanth Mahajan Sangh Uppunda president, Ramachandra Kharvi, president of Koderi Fishermen's Service Committee, Prakash Kharvi, entrepreneur from Mumbai, Suresh Kanchan, Mahabalq Kunder, Toufiq Abdul Saheb and chief priest of the temple, Raghavendra Karanth were present.

Temple renovation committee president, Ashok Kumar Shetty, welcomed and delivered the introductory address. On this occasion, Dr Heggade and Swamiji felicitated the donors who helped in the construction of the temple. Those who worked to build the temple were also honoured. On this occasion, Dr Heggade was honoured by Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project Byndoor taluk committee and local unit. To commemorate the visit of Dr Heggade, six self help groups were unveiled by Dr Heggade.

Shashidhar Shetty and Panduranga Byndoor presented the programme. Anand Tholar proposed the vote of thanks.
