Udupi, May 8: Municipal council president Anand B Kallolikar on Wednesday, May 8, warned of fines and action against unauthorized banners, cut outs and flex in the council limits.

He has stated that such publicity material by hotels, shops and other commercial buildings that hinders traffic and pedestrian movement has come to his notice. “People are objecting to them and it is necessary to restrict them. Therefore, prior permission should be obtained from the council before hanging publicity banners, cut outs, flex and publicity boards in public places and the reference number of the permission and permitted duration should be mentioned in them. As plastic is banned, only cloth banners should be used.

“Advertisement material without permission on public and private land should be removed within three days from now. Appropriate fine will be imposed and action against spoiling the appearance of public places will be taken on the basis of Karnataka municipal council rules otherwise. The owners will be solely responsible for all the loss and problems in this connection,” he said.
