Mangaluru, May 9: A demonstration of drawing Rangolis was held for women in Saujanya Mahila Mandala, Hoigebail, Urwa.

Country level award winner in Rangoli art, Chandrakala Jayarama Acharya was the resource person. She explained in detail ways to draw Rangoli’s and fill them with colour.

Mandali honorary president K A Rohini welcomed. Cultural secretary Rathnavati J Bykadi introduced the resource person. President Shanta L Bhat gave an introductory address. Secretary Rajeshwari S Rao proposed vote of thanks. Shailaja A Rao compered the programme.

Chandrakala Jayaram was felicitated for her achievement in the art. Responding to the honour, she said that Rangoli art is concerning women and they have the responsibility of preserving and nurturing it. “Women should draw Rangoli in front of their houses every day and also train children,” she said.
